As part of his passion project involving international engagement and globalizing the curriculum, GEN Board Member Don Uy-Barreta conducted a 2-hour live Zoom lecture for a financial markets course held at the College of Saint Anthony and Miriam College, both in the Philippines. Don was invited by Ms. Marijun Sy, a College of Saint Anthony Accountancy Lecturer, to present on how monetary and fiscal policies are applied during a recession and during periods of inflation. In addition to covering the fundamental concepts of these separate policies, the students were also shown how they are applied using past and current central bank policies from the Federal Reserve System, the Bank of England, and the European Central Bank.
