EPIC Community College Leadership Program

Open to mid- and senior-level administrators (e.g., presidents, vice presidents, divisional leaders, associate or assistant vice presidents, deans, associate or assistant deans, department chairs/deans and directors, program directors) at community colleges and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) in the U.S.

Fellowship Period: August 2024 - May 2025

In collaboration with the Graduate School of Education’s Center to Support Excellence in Teaching (CSET), Stanford Global Studies hosts the Education Partnership for Internationalizing Curriculum (EPIC) Leadership Program that brings together a cohort of mid- and senior-level administrators from community colleges and MSIs across the United States to participate in leadership training and design programs at their home institutions to support international education. Beginning with an in-person summer leadership institute, the program will feature quarterly online professional development workshops that will integrate targeted training on organizational leadership and institutional change with presentations by experts in internationalizing education. Fellows will join a professional community of leaders and learn how to use best practices to develop an implementation goal and timeline for promoting international education at their home institutions in ways that achieve intentional and sustained impact. The fellowship will culminate with an end-of-year symposium at Stanford University that will feature fellows’ outputs for institutionalizing global studies at community colleges and MSIs and bring together administrators and faculty from community colleges and four-year universities who are committed to fostering global studies on their campuses. This program will run in tandem with the EPIC Community College Faculty Fellowship Program to provide vital opportunities for administrators and teachers to collaborate on internationalizing the curriculum both in and out of the classroom.

Application & Program Details

Scope of Participation

  • Fellows attend a three-day leadership institute at Stanford on August 7-9, 2024.
  • Fellows will participate in three quarterly virtual seminars that combine leadership training with presentations by leading Stanford faculty on timely topics in internationalizing education (September 2024 - April 2025).
  • Fellows will develop and implement a plan for institutionalizing international education on their home campuses. Examples of implementation goals include the following: 
    • Establishing a new initiative/program that promotes global studies
    • Addressing an institutional challenge to international education
    • Developing or modifying policies and procedures to increase the accessibility of international education
    • Mobilizing stakeholders to enhance and expand global teaching and learning opportunities
  • Fellows present their work and outcomes at an end-of-year symposium, open to all U.S. community and four-year college faculty, administrators, deans, and academic counselors (May 2025).

Fellowship Terms

  • The fellowship period is approximately August 2024-May 2025.  
  • The fellowship term includes access to Stanford library resources.
  • Meals and lodging will be provided for the summer leadership institute and end-of-year symposium, as well as travel expenses up to $500 for each.

  • Applicants submit an online application form including a resume/CV.
  • Application deadline is April 1, 2024, 11:59 p.m. (Pacific). Anticipated notification of decision: May 2024.
