Please join us in congratulating current and former SGS staff who were recognized for their outstanding service at the annual School of Humanities and Sciences Staff Recognition Luncheon.
Student Services Officer at the Center for East Asian Studies, Kristin Kutella Boyd, received the 2018 Dean’s Award of Merit. This award originated in 1999 in an effort to acknowledge the important role staff play in the success of the School of Humanities & Sciences and the university as a whole, and is given to staff who have made significant contributions during the previous calendar year, fostered productivity and creativity, and demonstrated stellar performance, among other criteria. Kristin received more than 20 letters of nomination from faculty, staff, and students, who all praised her exceptional professionalism, dedication, and warmth, with one student writing that "it is meaningful beyond words for many of my classmates who are far from home, even oceans away from home, to know that if something were to happen, there is someone in our corner."
Several more staff were recognized for years of service at the university. Van-Anh Nguyen, currently the finance manager in the religious studies and philosophy departments and formerly the center administrator of the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, was recognized for 20 years of service. Franco Errico, the program assistant at the Hamid and Christina Moghadam Program in Iranian Studies, was recognized for 10 years of service. Finally, Joanne Camantigue, the center administrator of the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, was recognized for five years of service.
"As we all know, it is the devoted staff of the university who make it run," said Dean Richard Saller. "Their dedication and talent deserve recognition and our heartfelt thanks. These awards symbolize a much wider appreciation of jobs well done."
Please join us in congratulating these four extraordinary staff members, and thanking them for their many contributions over the years!
