Student spotlight: Rochelle Rouhani

Rochelle Rouhani graduates this weekend with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Global Studies with a specialization in Iranian Studies. “I took the minor classes out of interest without realizing I'd completed the minor but glad I did,” she says.

“I have learned so much about my heritage and how Iran plays a role in global politics, and I am excited to hopefully continue working with the program after graduation. I developed many skills in the humanities that I was not able to utilize as much in economics such as writing, critical reading, etc. It will definitely be an asset in my consulting career and hopefully in law school.”

Through the minor, Rochelle analyzed the different waves of immigration to Los Angeles following the Iranian Revolution. She is currently working on her capstone project, which analyzes Iran's policy responses to different rounds of international sanctions and explores how the economic and fiscal policy changes are unsustainable moving forward.

Of her time at Stanford, Rochelle says that she is proud that she was able to learn both Persian and Italian, and study abroad in Florence. She will be traveling over the summer before starting as a management consultant at Oliver Wyman in San Francisco.
