Montpellier, France

Liana Keesing

LIRMM, University of Montpellier

Thank you so much for your support in helping me participate in this internship. I had one of the most fantastic and fulfilling summers of my life, where I was able to live in an incredibly gorgeous city (Montpellier) while still performing enriching research in electrical engineering that will further my academic career.

My research, which focused on using explainable AI to glean new insights about cache architecture decisions in microarchitecture performance, fit neatly into my course of study at Stanford; my advisor at the lab in Montpellier has encouraged me to submit the final research paper for publication.

When I had a few weeks off during the lab's summer break in August, I used the time to travel around Europe, and ended up visiting over 18 countries over the course of the whole summer. This photo is from a weekend trip to the lavender fields in Provence, which were beautiful and only a short drive from my lab! I can't wait to come back and visit the friends I made from universities around France and to keep exploring the topics that I dived into this summer.
