Timothy Daniels, an associate professor at Hofstra University, and Alisha Cherian, a PhD student at Stanford University, will join us for an hour-long virtual event on race and the law in the Malay world (specifically Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia). This event will discuss Daniels’ research on Blackness among Semang, Tamils, and Papuans, and Cherian’s research on Singapore’s quota and urban housing policies, in conjunction with recent controversies over both Malaysia’s and Singapore’s application of capital punishment.

If you are interested in joining this virtual event, please register using this link. The event is open to all, but aimed especially toward undergraduates. There will be a Q&A at the end.
