Hamid Amjad is an award winning Playwright, director, actor, and scholar. Over the last twenty-five years, he has published more than twenty plays, three film scripts, two short story collections, and two studies on Iranian theater.  Some of his plays have been translated into other languages. In 2012, Amjad directed his first feature movie, “Laboratory”, with a notable cast including Reza Kianian, Afshin Heshemi, and Baran Kowsari.
He holds a BA in Cinema and a MA and PhD in Arts Research. In 2014, the Iranian Association of Theater Writers and Critics presented him with the prestigious Noushin Medal for his contribution to Iranian theater. Hamid Amjad, along with his wife and colleague, Jila Esmailian, runs Nila Publications, specializing in books about theater and cinema.
