Lunch Talk with Costa Rican Constitutional Court Justice Anamari Garro
Justice Anamari Garro of the Costa Rican Constitutional Court is also a Professor of Public Law at the University of Costa Rica. Costa Rica is an outlier in Latin America in terms of democracy, rule of law, and effectiveness of the judiciary, outperforming many of its neighbors. Why is this? Garro will discuss Costa Rica’s unique situation regionally, as well as challenges arising due to their new president. She will also address freedom of the press in Costa Rica, including a unique case which she worked on. Note that Justice Garro’s presentation will be in Spanish. All are welcome, but Spanish speakers encouraged!
This event is open to Stanford and part of the Global Research Workshop series, Global Trends in Judicial Reform. RSVP HERE by end of day Thursday, February 2 to receive lunch!
