Ania Loomba is Catherine Bryson Professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of Revolutionary Desires: Women, communism and Feminism in India (Routledge 2018); Shakespeare, Race, and Colonialism (Oxford University Press 2002), Colonialism–Postcolonialism (Routledge 1998; third edition, 2015), Gender, Race, Renaissance Drama (Manchester University Press, 1989, Oxford 1992) and numerous articles on early modern studies, race, colonial histories, and feminism. She is editor of Cultural History of Western Empires in the Renaissance (Bloomsbury, 2018), has co-edited (with Melissa Sanchez) Rethinking Feminism in Early Modern Studies (Routledge, 2016), South Asian Feminisms (Duke, 2012), Race in Early Modern England: A Documentary Companion (Palgrave, 2007); Postcolonial Studies and Beyond (Duke 2005) and Post-Colonial Shakespeares (Routledge, 1998). She tries to live in both Philadelphia and New Delhi.
