David Menashri will explore the relationship between Iran’s regional policy and its domestic politics, including its socio-economic challenges and growing popular dissatisfaction, domestic power struggles and the tension between revolutionary ideology and national interest. The lecture will also assess Iranian policy following the 2015 nuclear deal, the election of President Trump, and U.S. foreign policy on Iran and in the region—including a discussion of the relationship between Israel and Iran.

David Menashri is professor emeritus at Tel Aviv University and Senior Research Fellow at the Alliance Center for Iranian Studies and the Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University. He founded and was the first of Director the Alliance Center for Iranian Studies in Israel.

An internationally recognized Iran scholar, his many publications include: Post-Revolutionary Politics in Iran: Religion, Society and Power; Iran: Between Islam and the West (Hebrew); Education and the Making of Modern IranIran: A Decade of War and Revolution; and Iran in Revolution (Hebrew).
