Dr. Kirakosyan will share his experience in the past years in the capacity of the representative of Armenia before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). There are currently six inter-state cases related to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno Karabakh that took place between 27 September 2020 and 10 November 2020 and its aftermath, which allege widespread violations of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Dr. Kirakosyan will draw on these cases to examine the relationship between states and international courts, the decision-making processes of international courts, and the impact of their decisions in shaping state action.
