Abstract: Ecuador’s navigation of the covid-19 pandemic coincided with general elections that resulted in a new government. After three months, the Lasso administration struggles to pass a much needed economic reform to reactivate the dollarized economy, in negotiations with a legislature that reflects the traditionally fractionalized nature of the party system.

Speaker Biography: Carolina Curvale holds a PhD in Political Science from New York University, where she also earned a master´s degree. She received her baccalaureate from San Andres University in Argentina. Her main research areas are political institutions and political economy, with a regional focus in Latin America. Her research has been published by Oxford University Press and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, among others.
