Conversations with Latin American Authors: De un mundo que hila personas

About the lecture: La diada individuo-sociedad no constituye una disyuntiva, sino un par complementario. Esto es, los términos en ella hacen referencia a entidades – el individuo que es singular y la comunidad (o sociedad) que es plural – que son dos caras de un mismo fenómeno complejo en el que se despliegan tanto las prácticas y las relaciones que sostienen(materialmente) el mundo que habitamos, como nuestro modo de ser (aquí hoy).

The individual-society dyad does not constitute a dilemma but rather a complementary pair. That is, the terms described refer to entities – the individual that is singular and the community (or society) that is plural – wherein both are two faces of the same complex phenomenon that unfolds into the practices and relationships that (materially) sustain the world we inhabit and our present way of being.

Ángeles Eraña is a researcher at the Philosophical Research Institute at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her research interests are mainly focused on three areas: epistemology, cognitive sciences and most recently in social and critical ontology. She teaches different graduate and undergraduate seminars in the philosophy degree, masters and PhD. Her book De un mundo que hila personas appeared published by UNAM and UAM-C last year.
