Graduate Admissions

The Stanford Global Studies Division (SGS) supports five interdisciplinary M.A. degree programs, four of which are situated in the Division’s area centers. The M.A. programs attract students from around the globe and build a strong community of scholars. The multidisciplinary programs provide intensive study for students interested in deepening their understanding of history, culture and contemporary policy problems. Each center creates a unique program of study leveraging Stanford’s world class faculty in the School of Humanities and Sciences as well as in the professional schools and affiliated institutes on campus. Students are encouraged to participate in Division programs and student-initiated organizations.

Joint degree programs with the professional schools are available as are coterminal programs for Stanford undergraduates interested in pursuing graduate degrees. SGS M.A. graduates often pursue careers in government, NGOs and business.
